马英九那么牛,连“外国”都搞定了100多个免签,唯独搞不定大陆;大陆居民到香港都限制重重,更何况台湾!

据了解美国可能于今年(2012)下半年对台湾居民免签!

河北音乐广播电台不知不觉中被傅老师喜欢听了

四月 6, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

31, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

28, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

有的媒体喜欢炒冷饭,比如这篇,经过傅老师近一段时间的关注,发现新浪上的文章要么是软文广告,要么就是些扯淡的东西。上面链接的那篇文章傅老师几年前就读过,文中的领衔主演老美Chuck Allanson在网上已经被喷了很久了,例如:

http://bbs.chinadaily.com.cn/thread-391372-1-1.html
http://chinglish.blogbus.com/logs/10501069.html

遗憾的是,傅老师也不认识Chuck Allanson,也无法向其讨教一二,但是通读其文后你会发现有些确实人家说得是对的,有的则又感觉是该这么用,当然傅老师这种感觉是建立在长期与各国老外打交道的基础之上的,而非英语四六级什么的。傅老师先谈几个认同的:
bye bye确实适合小朋友用,大人应该是bye,当然你还可以拖一点音,像这样bye~~~~
WC是被men’s room取代了
what a pity是被淘汰了,现在用what a shame.

针对几个存疑的表达,傅老师毕竟不是native speaker,因此分别向4个来自不同国家的外教请教,他们都是28岁左右,良好教育出身(本科、硕士),他们对这些语言的看法能够在很大程度上他们的国家对这个语言的用法。下面看回复:

ravioli VS Chinese dumplings
英国Vicky: In the West we only really had Canotonese Chinese food until quite recently. The Cantonese steamed buns we call ‘dim sum.’ The word ravioli refers to an Italian pasta usually with meat inside.
美国外教Oliver: Called dumplings. Ravioli is only used for Italian food.
加拿大外教维多利亚:The standard English word for this would just be dumplings and most people will know, if someone doesn’t understand you can describe it as a “Chinese ravioli” and they should be able to imagine it
澳大利亚外教卢克: I have only ever heard ravioli used to describe a type of Italian pasta. It is a little bit similar to jiaozi in that it is a wheat based wrapping stuffed with a filling but I have never heard that word used to describe Chinese food. We have always just called jiaozi ‘Chinese dumplings’, or even just ‘dumplings’.

Mend VS fix/repair
英国Vicky: We don’t really use ‘mend’ event hough it has the same meaning as fix or repair. It’s a little bit old fashioned.
美国外教Oliver: We only say fix or repair. Mend is British.
加拿大外教维多利亚:Mend is perfectly alright to use but fix/repair is more common
澳大利亚外教卢克:in Australia we always say fix or repair, never mend. I think I have heard it used in the UK and I’m sure it is mostly used in the US.

so so
英国Vicky: We don’t use so so very often. Like in Chinese ‘mamahuhu.’ We would say “My English is ok.” or “My English alright.”
美国外教Oliver: So so isn’t used often. I would probably say “my English is okay” or “pretty good”.
加拿大外教维多利亚:So so is okay, but you could also use “it’s alright” or “it’s okay”
澳大利亚外教卢克:’So so’ is a phrase that is not common at all among native speakers. I have actually started using it more often because I am used to Chinese people using it all the time, lol, I definitely did not use it at all before I came to China.

delicious
英国Vicky: Delicious is quite formal. You can use tasty (yummy is for kids) or even “This is beautiful.” or “It’s so good” They sound more natural.
美国外教Oliver: No one says tasty or appetizing.
加拿大外教维多利亚: I think the word delicious is best here, tasty is a little too young, and appetizing is a little formal.
澳大利亚卢克:There is nothing wrong with the word delicious at all, I definitely use it. It is probably better used in written rather than spoken English

mansion VS tower
英国Vicky: What’s the Chinese for your office tower?
美国外教:A mansion is a big house. It never referred to a large commercial building. Tower/Center/Building/Plaza can all work.
加拿大外教维多利亚:Tower!
澳大利亚卢克:I would describe your office building as either Xiangjiang Tower or Xiangjiang Center. I think the US teachers are quite right that mansion is not used anymore

27, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

一是建议外教病假,课程临时取消;
